We'd like to announce a duel!

Lavender vs. Lavender

Did you know that there is more than one kind of lavender? There is! There are actually over 40 different types of lavender plants! 🌿 Why do you care? Well, one kind of lavender is the kind that helps you relax and unwind, while the other kind is quite stimulating, and can actually keep you up at night! I am so fascinated by the wide array of issues tackled by one kind of plant. I could write 10 books about the different kinds of lavender but no one has that much time to read about 47 species of the same plant. I decided to pick just two of those versions and show you the stark contrast of Lavender vs. Lavender.

Lavender, Lavender, and More Lavender

Lavandula angustifolia is the Lavender you want to reach for when you want to chill. Rub a couple of drops into tight neck and shoulder muscles, diffuse in your room for relaxation, or put a couple drops in a warm bath before bed for more restful sleep.

Spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia) is a type of lavender than can actually be very energizing. Not what you want to use when relaxing! Spike lavender is really helpful for sinus congestion, sinus headaches, and allergy issues. It's also very soothing on itchy bug bites.

Either option seems like a win! So when you reach for your lavender essential oil, make sure you pick the right one for what you need! We definitely cannot determine a winner of the duel. Both have proven their worth. The more you know the better your essential oil journey will be.
